I don't have an answer for this one.
The tech I checked with said:

"You may need to forward to an InRoads consultant. I am sure that it probably is related to MicroStation's interpretation of working units."

Thank you, that is very helpful.

I have another question related to area measurement.  Once I open a surface in InRoads, the areas that appear in the element info are fractions of he actual area size.  For example, a shape measuring 71552 without InRoads open measures .0077 once I open a surface in InRoads.  How do I correct this?

MicroStation will calculate and return the total value for areas of elements

selected. The process is simple;

1. Select all of the closed elements, (shapes, complex shapes, circles,

ellipses…) with the element selection tool.

2. Select the Measure Area tool.

3. Press the left mouse button anywhere in the view window to initiate the

measurement.

4. Look in the Status Bar for the result.

I can see the element of an area by looking at the Geometry section of the Element Info.  When I select several elements with varying areas, the Geometry section says **Varies** for area.  Is there any way to see the total combined area value for all selected elements?
