I don't think that ability has been invented yet. Pretty sure the only way you can get the mask on there is to exchange to the first level reference and then place the mask. That assumes the nested reference is only nested one level deep. Otherwise you will have to keep exchanging until you get to the bottom of it. Yuck! Sorry I don't have better news for you.

Is there a way to mask only one of the nested references from the print sheet?
