Microstation Default Linewidth in millimetre

I checked with a guru on this. Here is what he said:

"Here's the deal with line weights in MicroStation. MicroStation defines

weights in pixels. For that reason they always display the same on the

screen no matter how zoomed in or out the user is in the view.

Plot widths when plotted or line width values when saved to AutoCAD always

come from a setting that define a width in millimeters or inches for each

line weight whether assigned to the element itself or in the level table for

byLevel weight.

Based on the values listed in the post his dwg files are getting the default

weight to width mapping in the MicroStation translator settings. He can

change these by remapping through the csv file which he knows about or he

can go to the "DWG Save As Options" and change the default values stored in

the "Line Weights" category of these options. He can access these settings

by clicking the "Options" button on the "Save As…" dialog of MicroStation

or by accessing the "DWG Save" options of the Batch Converter."

Hi All,

Sorry if this question is already available in this forum, but i have do my best to search it first before i post it.

I just learn Microstation just few month ago,

I use Autocad mainly but my company said that we going to move to microstation for the next few years.

The question is; in Autocad, Linewidth is defined by millimetre but in Microstation it defined by Pen Number (1,2,3 etc.)

We don't use pentable while working on the drawing but we use Layer to determined line style (line width etc.) because that how we works on Autocad, so basicly we just assign pen number without knowing the actual linewidth in millimetre.

The problem now the client want us to convert the back to DWG, the linewidth of the line is diffrent from Autocad standard linewidth(0.05mm, 0.15mm, 0.18mm, 0.35 etc.)

I know that I could map the linewidth when we export it to Autocad(DWG), but I don't know nor defined any linewidth of the line at Pentable in first place.

Do you know the default Pen linewidth in millimetre ?
