If you want to know how to do something in MicroStation, or if you've found a cool tip or trick that you'd like to share, you've come to the right place. MicroStationTips.com is a forum for MicroStation users and CAD Managers to share tips, tricks and how-tos. It is a platform for savvy users to share their bounty of knowledge with peers.
I checked with one of our experts on this. Here was his answer:
"PowerDraft has limitations for 3D, purposely designed so that 3D people have to buy MicroStation. Technically, it may be possible to get some 3D .ma files (perhaps even a required .dll amd .msl) but there are no guarantees that this will work. There are no alternatives, as far as I know."

For some reason Bentley does not include tools for projecting solids in their Powerdraft XM Academic version. I am trying to make a 3d model of a chemical plant. I can create pipe with the cylinder tool and lofted solids with the cone tool ( and stretch). but I can't access tools like extrude along path (even key-in). I really need to be able to make pipe elbows. Are there any other tools that will allow me to do this?
Are there any other academic versions available? I sure don't see any on the Bentley site
