  1. Is there a way to make the plus/minus and the diameter symbol in the textmode?

I am trying to create a cell with Enter Data fields. When I create the cell and check to see if it places okay…the Enter Data fields don’t work. How can I create a cell with an Enter Data field that works?? Thank you for your time!!

  3. Struggling Student..... says:

Very beginner question, For some reason when I use a circle icon it is already filled. How can I change this as i just want the outlined diameter? Tnakk you so much,,,,,,dead line is looming.
    : )

  4. John Damman says:

To “unfill” your circle, begin by placing the circle. The dialog box should appear. In that box, in the “Area” line “Hole” should be selected and “Fill Type” should have “None” selected. I hope his isn’t too late for your deadline. It appears that almost every function is like this, from circle to text to patterns, etc. Always check to see what the setting is for the function.

  5. John Damman says:

As for the plus/minus and diameter symbols, type “%%c” for diameter and” %%p” and for degrees, “%%d”. There are also symbols in the WYSIWYG area of the text styles settiings dialog box, but the described way is quicker.

I am working with a site topo file that needs to be converted from grid coordinates system to surface coordinates system.
The conversion factor has 9 decimal places but Microstation keeps rounding up to 6 decimal places when I sete the scale during referencing the file. Can you tell me how to set microstation to handle 9 decimal places? It is very important that I use this degree of accuracy in the file.
    Thanks

I have a segmented line in microstation. How do I make that one single line with no vertices?

  8. There’s an option for this on MicroStation’s “Modify” Palette. The option is called “Delete Vertex”.

  9. Jasper says:

how do i delete unnecessary levels? even as i compress the files, the levels are still there. i change the elements to a new named level, match their properties but as i compressed it, it still there

  10. 1. It may be possible that the levels you can’t delete are being loaded from a level library. Levels are not in the DGN proper until they are used. You can check configuration variable MS_DGNLIBLIST to see if you are loading any dgnlib’s.

    2.
    a. If you have a text style or dimension style created which is pointing to that level, it will not allow you to delete the level. Also, if you have a shared cell definition where the cell has been created on one or more specific levels(even if the cell has not been placed in the drawing) it will not allow you to delete the level or levels that these cells are using. These can mysteriously come into your drawing if you copy things in from AutoCAD or other files. My best suggestion if you get a lot of this is to create a new dgn file, then attach the file that has your linework and copy the linework into the new file. Otherwise, you may find yourself deleting 40 shared cells one at a time, 15 text styles, etc. Much faster to start fresh. Hope this helps.
    b. Or just simply use LEVEL PURGE levelname keyin to delete level. Nice and simple.

    3. If Shared cells are your problem they can be deleted by the key-in “delete scdefs all” this will delete all unused shared cells.

converting cad to micro station need to create dgnlib files from cadd files with cadd AEC CAD 2.0 standards. imbed in them already. please advise. tried renaming the cadd file extension dwg to dgnlib. corrupts the file.

  12. I believe you are saying that you’re saving DWG files to DGN files. Then you need to create a dgnlib from the DGN file.
After you’ve converted the DWG to DGN:
    1. Open the DGN file.
    2. Go to Settings|Level|Manager.
    3. From the LevelManager dialog box go to Levels|Export…
    4. Navigate to your location of choice, specify a file name and press to save your dgnlib.

Hello, is there a way to offset lines in Microstation as we do with AutoCad?

  14. I believe the “Copy/Move Parallel” command will do what you need. It’s on the “Main” toolbar. Tools|Main. Locate the “Copy” icon on the ‘Main” palette. Press and hold “Copy”, then select the “Move/Copy Parallel”.
