Select By text string (V7 and V8)

Question: Is it possible to select text by a portion of a text string, for example, “te” to select “tent”, “I was late” and “remove telephone pole”?

Answer: Yes it is! Open the “Select By Attributes” dialog from the Edit menu. Then, select Settings | Text to open the “Select By Text” dialog. Click on the box next to the “String” field and enter “te” in blank box provided. Then, in the Types list box, click on “Text”. Finally, click on <Execute>. All text strings that contain the characters specified in the “String” field box will be selected.

The “Select By Text” dialog box allows you to select elements based on text properties, like font and the contents of text strings.
